A Life Well Lived

And that's an understatement.

Alice "Attee" Adams Hunter Patterson, beloved wife, mother, and friend.
Born: October 7, 1928
Died: June 25,2009

Thank you all for your prayers and support. Keep them coming on behalf of our family and especially on behalf of my sweet daddy, mourning the earthly loss of the love of his life.

Thanks be to God for the legacy of your mother's well-lived life, living on through your father, you, your brother and sister, your children, spouses, extended families, and friends. Prayers and tears, Jill.

Her inspiring life will resonate in the hearts and minds of those that knew her. A sweet lady. I will miss her. What can I do for you? Renee

She was one of those bright spots in my life that I always knew I could count on.
I will miss her.
May God wrap you all in his loving arms.
Take care,
Frances

Death, be not proud (Holy Sonnet 10)
by John Donne

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou are not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou'art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy'or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

She was the consummate Southern lady, with a sort of gentility about her, and unsurpassed graciousness. I was privileged to be her houseguest and sit at her dinner table; to share a church pew with her on more than one occasion. She still inspires me to extend and expand my own hospitality.
